In this post we are going to look at different blood types and the characteristics that are commonly associated with them.

characteristic - 特質・特徴・特性 / associated with - ～と関連する This is a popular topic of conversation in Japan, but not in England, where most people don’t even know their own blood type. As it happens, I know mine. I’m an AB.

Anyway, what I’ve done is to make lists of adjectives that can be used to describe people’s personality/character and grouped them by blood type. I hope this will be a useful collection of adjectives for you to remember - and you can enjoy explaining to your foreign friends/teachers about the Japanese way of judging personality by blood type.

Type ‘O’ - The Warrior :

Good traits :

• ambitious 野心のある :
• athletic 運動選手らしい・活発な :
• robust 強壮な :
• self-confident 自信のある :
• natural leader 生まれつきのリーダー :

Bad traits :

• arrogant 横柄な :
• vain うぬぼれの強い :
• insensitive 無感覚な・鈍感な :
• ruthless 無慈悲な・冷酷な :

Type ‘A’ - The Farmer :

Good traits :

• conservative 保守的 :
• introverted 内向的な :
• reserved 遠慮した・内気な :
• patient 我慢強い :
• punctual 几帳面な・時間を固く守る :
• perfectionist 完ぺき主義者 :

Bad traits :

• obsessive 強迫観念に取り付かれた人・異常なまでも～ :
• stubborn 頑固な :
• self-conscious 人前を気にする :
• uptight 不安な・緊張した :

Type ‘B’ - The Hunter :

Good traits :

• creative 独創的な・創造力のある :
• passionate 激情な・情熱的 :
• animal loving 動物好き :
• optimistic 楽観的 :
• flexible 順応性のある・融通の利く :
• individualistic 個人主義的 :

Bad traits :

• forgetful 忘れっぽい :

Type ‘AB’ - The Humanist :

Good traits :

• cool かっこいい・冷静な :
• controlled 抑制された・感情を抑制できる :
• rational 理性のある・理にかなった :
• introverted 内向的
• empathic 感情移入ができる :

Bad traits :

• aloof よそよそしい :
• critical 批判的・非難をつける :
• indecisive 優柔不断 :
• unforgiving 勘弁しない・誤りを許さない :
